The grand opening ceremony of Adventures in Learning Great Neck LLC was held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at John F. Kennedy School in Great Neck, New York.  Adventures Great Neck is an after school academic after school program aimed at serving the most underserved students in the Great Neck Public Schools in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.

The program is modeled off of the program, Adventures in Learning in Manhasset, New York.  It began serving 48 students in March after school on all school days except Fridays from 3:30pm -5:30 pm. Nine teachers and 22 volunteers are involved in day-to-day activities. The Great Neck School District Administration and School Board as well as the leadership of JFK Elementary School partnered with Board President Kurt Kiess, Executive Director Diana Holden and Associate Director Jonathan Landau of Adventures in Learning Manhasset to bring this program to the Great Neck community.

In attendance at the grand opening was (the late) Great Neck School District Superintendent Dr. Teresa Prendergast, Assistant Superintendent John O’Keefe Assistant Superintendent Kelly Newman, District Supervisor of Transportation Donovan Howell, John F. Kennedy School Principal Mr. Ronald Gimondo, as well as many Great Neck teachers and school employees. Councilwoman Veronica Lurvey honored Adventures in Learning Great Neck with a Proclamation. Founded 53 years ago by the Congregational Church in Manhasset, Adventures in Learning is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.  It is an after-school education and enrichment program, located in the Hagedorn Community Center at the Manhasset/Great Neck EOC building at 65 High Street, Manhasset, dedicated to improving the lives of children in Manhasset and Great Neck in need of after school care and instruction.
